地方国营南安市石料厂建于1958年，是中国建筑材料流通协会“产品质量、服务信誉”双保障单位，第二届中华全国工商业联合会石材业商会常务理事单位。厂区位于泉州西郊晋江之畔，南安丰州石垄公路边，距丰州金鸡桥仅五公里，水陆交通便捷。历来生产G3506（原G606）花岗岩，又名泉州白，俗称砻石。石料厂的矿区面积约1.9平方公里，总储量1.2亿立方米。       

    地方国营南安市石料厂606#泉州白（正矿）砻石大矿区，生产规模大，机械化程度高，现有400多名工人，采石作业平面达150多亩，月生产能力2万多立方米，生产各种型号石料（包括长20米、80多立方米的巨型石料），最大起吊重量300吨左右，特大型的运输车可直接开至矿底装载巨型石料，是福建省石材生产第一大矿区。       

    606#（正矿）砻石畅销海内外，是重大工程建设，尤其是重大馆堂、胜迹修复的首选石材。在国内：如毛主席纪念堂、 黄帝陵工程、“八一”南昌起义纪念塔、华侨大学陈嘉庚纪念堂、深圳金融大厦、超大型龙柱雕像等均选用砻石。其质量饮誉于海内外，为泉州石业创建了一大品牌， 在全国建材史写下了光辉的一页。      

    606#（正矿）砻石从唐朝开采至今已一千三百多年，砻石开采历史悠久，它留下了许多美好神奇的传说，砻石质量千年不变。如一千多年前的赵州桥、洛阳桥、泉州东西塔等选用的石材均为砻石。虽历经沧桑，却依然坚如磐石，真是“砻声传万里，石色葆千秋”。石料厂建立以来，尤其近十多年来，606#（正矿）砻石大矿区得到更科学、大规模的开采，砻石也更加广泛被用于全国各地重大工程建设。近期的例如：中国科学院门碑由一块长20米，70立方左右的606#（正矿）砻石建成；江泽民题词的厦门杏林大桥桥碑，由5块60立方左右的巨大606#（正矿）砻石叠立而成。又如：中国人民解放军总医院外墙由6000多立方606#（正矿）砻石荒料加工干挂荔枝面建成；湖南长沙国防科技大学外墙由4000多立方606#（正矿）砻石荒料加工干挂荔枝面建成；浙江温州市政府大楼外墙由6000多立方的606#（正矿）砻石荒料加工干挂光板建成；江苏理工大学围墙由5000立方米左右的606#（正矿）砻石建成；云南理工大学石碑由一块长17米，50立方米左右的606#（正矿）砻石石雕制成；福建泉州市中级人民法院独角兽由一块80立方米左右的606#（正矿）砻石雕刻而成。像这样的以砻石为建材的大型建筑、石雕，不胜枚举。                              

    606#（正矿）砻石质量优良，属淡水花岗岩，深层石、密度高，石质十分坚硬，具有横渡墨水不变质、千年不变色、日晒降温快 、对人体无辐射的特点。经国家鉴定；耐酸度达99.38%，耐温度600度，抗压力每立方厘米2吨。光泽度可达98度以上，颜色清晰，底色粉红等特点，属上乘高档的优质石材。
